FlagWelcome to the Pasquotank River Yacht Club, we prefer PRYC for short.  We are a small club but we know how to have fun.  During the year we have several parties.  A spring "launching" party, get-togethers before Regattas, a summer party and of course the Christmas Party.

We are one of the four yacht clubs in the Albemarle Sound Sailing Association, and again we like the short ASSA.  Each Yacht club has a regatta where we race sailboats over 23 feet long.  Each racing venue has its own charm and is a good destination for cruisers too, both power and sail. If you do not know how to race we will be more than happy to guide you on your way to  the winner's trophy.  Do not have a boat? No problem! You can crew on one of the racing boats. The skippers are always looking for crew and no experience is necessary.

If sailboat racing is not what you like or your boat is not a sailboat we have members that love to cruise either in groups or can show you where the fun spots are on the sound.  Some of our members have long distance experience and can guide you to cross oceans.  We are a member of a cruising club that gives you reciprocal rights at Yacht Clubs around the world.  There are some really nice Yacht Clubs, coat and tie types.

One of our most successful programs is the Junior Sailing Camp.  We take two weeks in the summer and teach about fifty youth ages 9-16 to sail. We start with prams, which are small boxy boats with small sails and move the students thru different sizes and classes of boats until they can rig, sail and race two person boats. Some of our students return to teach after they have exhausted our knowledge.  Even if you do not know how to sail you may still volunteer.  There are 50+ youth and we can use all the help we can get.

As of last year we took over the management of the Albemarle Hospice Regatta. This regatta is part of a nationwide organization to promote and donate to Hospice. This Regatta is right after Youth Sailing Camp (first Saturday in August). There are fleets for all sizes of boats, plus a 5K run/walk/crawl, with a party for all ages afterwards. We love volunteers.

Another Regatta we help out with and some sail in is the Classic Moth Boat Association (CMBA) Nationals. The PRYC was formed for the Mothboat, which was first built here.

We also have the safest Marina in Elizabeth City during storms. You must be a member first before you can put a boat there.  For more information please call one of the officers and they will lead you to a world of boating pleasure.
